Yesterday, the Burlington Golf Team received their 2011 Middlesex Championship Golf jackets. The team won the first Middlesex League Small Division Championship since the leagues were divided. Led by Captains Brian Hood and Brett Romkey, the team had an 11-3 record with a 10-1 overall Middlesex League Record. They had an undefeated record of 5-0 in the Small Division which led them to the league championship and a spot in states.
This years team consisted of a solid starting line up, which included Brian Hood, Brett Romkey, Joe Moran, Brien Diffley, Brendan Cody, Liam Cronin, Brian Minghella, and Eddie Francis. Steve Vinneau was also a huge part of the season going undefeated in his alternate matches leading to a huge junior season and a varsity letter. Other players on the team included Seniors Evan Andreatta, Mike Shield, and Matt Theriault.Junior Christian Mikulski, and Sophmores Joe Scali, Jake Goldstein, and Max Paraskevas. After another successful season, the golf team looks forward to repeating as Middlesex League Small Division Champions but not without a few hurdles. Next Years team will lose half of their roster because 8 members of this year team were seniors. It'll be tough, but it can be done.
